OUR STORY
Ekta foundation was established in 2012 to uplift members of the transgender community from poverty and poor access to health and education as a result. We initially started out with HIV testing. But this then unveiled a deeper layer of needs. We weren't just facing a health crisis; it was a fight for livelihood and dignity. Our first partnership was with Karunya Sanstha to increase access to better nutrition.
Hope flourishes when we stand together. We, the Transgender community, needed to unite. There was a need for strong leadership, and voices that represented the needs of everyone.
We also noticed a great need for skilling in the community, to enable additional sources of income. Vatsalya Foundation's skilling programs, focused on beautician and driving courses for both TG and MSM communities, were a step in the right direction. But we need more. We need a space to come together, to share, to learn, and to rise as one.
This isn't just about me, it's about all of us, and more important my community. It's about reclaiming the future we deserve, a future where every member of the TG, MSM and migrant community can stand tall, empowered and thriving.
